Looking For Fun Projects in Your Southern Maryland Home?

If you’re in the mood for a fun home project to add a bit of flair to your space, there are so many simple DIY projects that Southern Maryland homeowners can undertake. Whether you’re looking to change the look of a room or add a bit more creativity to your home, here are a few projects that might do the trick:

Organize Your Bookshelves by Color

You’ve likely seen the images on platforms like Instagram and Pinterest that show a rainbow of books flowing across a bookshelf. If not, a quick Google search can give you all the inspiration you need. Start by removing all your books from the shelves, then group them by color. From there, you might get really specific and organize by color shade or book size. Give your shelves a quick dust, and then you’re ready to create your rainbow of books.

Recycle an Old Piece of Furniture

Whether there’s a piece of furniture in your home you’re just not that excited about anymore or you picked up a curbside or thrift shop find, upcycling is a popular trend for a reason. There are so many ways we can change up something we already own. Something as simple as hanging the drawer pulls on a dresser, for example, can be a quick update that transforms the piece. If you have a bit more time, a bit of sanding and a fresh coat of paint and really make an older piece of furniture feel like new.

Add an Accent Wall

If you’re not ready to undertake painting an entire room but you’re craving a splash of color, an accent wall could be the perfect solution. You might opt for a bold color on a focal-point wall, or perhaps you do some color blocking, incorporating a stripe or section of a new color. So often, we get stuck in the mindset that painting needs to be a massive project for the entire room. Going for just one wall can make it a much speedier project for a weekend afternoon.

Display What You Love

Adding some shelving to your space is another great way for homeowners to add some new style elements to a room. Rather than just relying on artwork you can hang, shelves allow for those three-dimensional pieces that you love to be on display as artwork in their own right. Maybe it’s a little sculpture or vase you display in your living room or perhaps it’s a collection of your favorite ceramic mugs in the kitchen. Using shelves to highlight the things you love is a simple option for homeowners to add a bit more visual interest to a room.
