Whatever the case, adding some vintage flare to your home can be a lot of fun. Luckily, it’s quite easy, and can be done on any budget.  Here are a few ideas to get you inspired:

Knobs and Cabinet Pulls

This simple upgrade can be a simple and fun way to add a little vintage without breaking the bank. Although it’s subtle, cabinet pulls and doorknobs will work well to convey a nod to the past. Check out some local vintage markets or search online to find unique designs with just a bit of patina. You can choose to polish them up or just leave them a little tarnished, depending on what you’re going for.

Consider Multifunctional Pieces

A record player console that contains a record player and speakers can help to transform a space. It not only plays records (nothing sounds better than vinyl), and also double as a statement piece that can be the focal point of any room. You can seek out consoles from the 1950s and 1960s, or find something newer in that same style. And with the recent resurgence in vinyl’s popularity, you’ll have no problem finding your favorite stuff.

Frames and Mirrors

Adding older mirrors and frames is another way to add a touch of vintage flare without going overboard. Looking for detailed frames perhaps with just a bit of wear is a great way to tie a room together. Even if the pieces of art you frame are more modern, the play between the two can be a notable contrast.

Mix and Match

As I mentioned earlier, mixing vintage and modern works well, and sometimes combines to transcend the individual components. Most homeowners don’t want their homes to look themed — they don’t want their living rooms to feel like you’ve been transported back to 1952 in a time machine. Including a bit of vintage doesn’t mean you need to change your entire design. Instead, slowly add some unique, detailed finds until you reach the right balance.

Color

Color can be a great way to tie those vintage items in with your current style. By keeping a clean color pallet and bringing in vintage things that work with your current colors, you can unify the two styles. You can go either way with this. Choosing a few bold colors works very well, while sticking with a neutral color palette can also tie the vintage and modern together nicely.
