If you’re starting to feel a bit stir crazy as we get into the thick of winter, there are many great reasons to get out and about. Whether you’re looking to treat your loved one to a Valentine’s Day surprise, or you’d like a fun evening out with friends, there’s plenty to mark on your calendar this month. Here are some of the best events to check out:
Winter Jazz & Wine Series II
When: Saturday, February 2 | 7:30PM – 10:30PM
Where: Wellspring Manor and Spa | 11311 Drumsheugh Lane, Upper Marlboro, MD
If you’re looking for an evening (or weekend) of indulgence in Southern Maryland, pay a visit to the Wellspring Manor and Spa. Aside from enjoying a spa treatment here, this weekend you can catch their fun jazz and wine event. It’s the second in their series, and they’ll have the talented Carly Harvey, a blues, jazz, soul, and Americana singer who’ll pay tribute to the likes of Billie Holiday, Nancy Wilson, and Sarah Vaughn. RedLot Soiree: A Formal After-Hours Event
When: Friday, February 8 | 6:30PM – 9:30PM
Where: Port of Leonardtown Winery | 23190 Newtowne Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD
This Valentine’s event is happening at the Port of Leonardtown Winery, with an evening of live music, dancing, and, of course, local wine. The Gretchen Richie Jazz Cabaret will be performing live to set the tone for a night of fun in Leonardtown. The evening also includes catered plate dishes as well, so reserve your ticket for you and someone special.
Expressions of a People Festival
When: Sunday, February 10 | 1:00PM - 6:00PM
Where: Harmony Hall Arts Center | 10701 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, MD
This event is a great way to celebrate Black History Month in Southern Maryland. The Expressions of a People Festival is a free event with all kinds of entertainment, including live musical performances, workshops, and children’s activities, making for a perfect family-friendly weekend option. Kids will enjoy activities like mask-making, make-and-take pottery workshops, and face painting.
Big Apple Circus
When: February 14 – March 21, 2019
Where: National Harbor | 137 National Plaza, National Harbor, MD
The Big Apple Circus is coming to Southern Maryland and landing at the National Harbor this month. Gather the kids and snag tickets to one of their many daily performances in their five-week visit. With award-winning acts from around the world, including a flying trapeze act, a ringmaster, and animal presenter, this family-friendly event is sure to please.
Spirits of Maryland: Southern MD
When: Saturday, February 23 | 1:30PM – 7:00PM
Where: Patuxent River Naval Air Museum | 22156 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park, MD
Exploring the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum is always an educational and exciting time, and their Spirits of Maryland event is the perfect time to visit. The Maryland Distillers Guild is teaming up with the PAX River Naval Air Museum at the end of this month, giving you a chance to taste and purchase craft spirits from across Maryland. Your ticket gets you access to the historic museum as well as live music and some light appetizers. General admission comes with samples of each distillery as well as a signature MDG glass to take home. VIP tickets are available as well and come with some added perks like access to limited barrel samples.
